Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a member?
If you’re interested in becoming a member, we’re stoked! To register as a member, go to our homepage and click ‘Register’ in the top, left-hand corner. To get in on all the perks and quirks of being a CSSC member, select “Premium” (which is good for the entirety of the ski season) and follow the steps from there. You will be able to select a unique name and password for your account as well as gain exclusive access to trips prior to everybody else.
Do I have to be a member to come on the trips?
Nope! Anybody is welcome. You don’t have to be a student at Concordia (or anywhere else!) to come on our trips either.
Do we have to buy tickets online?
Nope! Tickets can be purchased for any of our trips either online or in person during our office hours. Our office hours are listed above however, we can only take cash in the office. And no, we cannot make a special exception for you.
Can we get rentals through CSSC?
CSSC does not rent out gear privately. You may rent at the mountain we are going to. Sometimes CSSC will get a great deal on rentals through our tour company and if that is the case, the option will be available for you during checkout when your purchase your ticket from CSSC! Year-long rentals are available at ski shops within Montreal (we recommend Poubelle du Ski) as well!
Can I get a refund?
This is a question we get asked all too frequently. The answer is no. We do not offer refunds for any reason, at any time. However, if you realize you cannot make the trip prior to the trip you can resell your ticket by posting on the Facebook event page. Please email us with the name, email and phone number of the person you sell your ticket to.
CSSC is a student run, non-profit organization. It is your responsibility to get to the bus on time. If you oversleep and miss the bus you will not receive a refund. If you loose track of time sipping beers at the end of the day and miss the bus you will not receive a refund and you will be left behind (it’s happened before). If you are, for some reason, unsatisfied in any way and demand a refund, you will not receive a refund. If you forget your equipment you will not receive a refund. If you forget your passport and have to spend all day waiting at the border (no, really. It’s happened before) you will not receive a refund. Basically, you will not receive a refund for any given reason.
We are not able to give refunds based on our status as a student run club. We simply don’t have room in our already tight budget to offer refunds, even in extreme circumstances. We do our best to prepare and plan in advance to ensure that you will not want a refund!
Do you offer lessons?
CSSC offers lessons only at our annual Learn-to-Ski at Owls Head. We do not offer lesson bookings and do not receive any discounts on lessons. You are more than welcome to book a lesson at the mountain however we cannot guarantee arrival times so please plan accordingly.
Do you take credit or debit cards in the office?
Nope. We can only accept cash at the office. If you would like to purchase your tickets with credit/ debit you must do so online.
Can I rent a jacket and pants from CSSC?
Sadly no. CSSC does not have the space or budget to have extra coats/jackets/ski pants/ mitts/ anything extra. Most mountains don’t rent anything but the equipment either, so make sure you have everything you need when boarding the bus.
Where can I leave my stuff while I am on the mountain?
You are able to leave anything you want on the bus, however you will not have access to it during the day. We are not able to guarantee that your items will be %100 secure but, we have never had a problem with theft on the bus. There are also storage lockers and cubbys at most mountains that are available to rent out, usually at about $1.00 – $3.00 for the day. You can also leave your items in the lodge as there are additional spaces free of charge to place your things.
How do I become a member of the exec team?
The exec team adds new execs as they are needed. We hold interviews in the spring and introduce them to the club over the summer. If you are interested in applying keep a look out for posts on our Facebook page in the spring. We do not take on new execs during the school year.
